A social visit from the blog-god was greatly anticipated - would he think to bring some wine, thought I? A cheeky little red Burgundy perhaps or a critic-applauded Chardonnay? Maybe even a bottle of bubbly; knowing his unquenchable love of the sparkly stuff from Champagne. Did he bring a bottle? Did he heck.
No wine at all. Instead a gorgeous Marks & Spencer Strawberry Sponge Roll! And I had it ALL to myself.

I don't know what it is about the swirl, but it makes any dessert look 10 times more delicious.
