Just down the road some generous neighbour (more likely a gardener seeing the size of the grounds these houses sit in) has left out a motley collection of buckets and Tupperware pots overflowing with windfall apples. A donation to charity required before helping yourself; which in my case yesterday was a couple of huge Bramleys.
The October issue of Delicious, embracing seasonality, helpfully provided a recipe or two for using said fruit. As the theme for Foodography is 'Let Them Eat Cake' the Dorset Apple Cake was duly created with much hilarity ensuing as new electric whisk splattered pounded butter, ground almonds and partially mixed eggs across the counter... over the floor... down the cupboard doors...

Hello,
Since this post, because of your photo, I waited for this October issue of Delicious here in Montréal : I wanted to make THIS Dorset Apple Cake. Not the others recipes I founded here and there, but this one, yours.
Unfortunately, they stopped to distribute Delicious here in Québec just before this october issue, and there is no one library where I could find it.
Do you know any way of how I could get this recipe I'm searching for because of your great, always great, photos you make.
Thank you for reading me,
Claire

I shall dig out the magazine and send you a copy of the recipe Claire - just hope I still have it.
Actually your comment has made me want to make it again!
Seriously though, thanks for the kind words on my photos. This one has some room for improvement. So ANOTHER reason to make the cake again! :-)
