Bay Leaves  Add/Read Comments

Generously Moira, an American soon to depart England and return to the States, gave all those who went to the Salt and Butter tasting a large sprig of home grown bay leaves. When I say sprig it is more the size of a small branch! Bay, therefore, has been a major feature in the Barrow kitchen this week, including the delicious Roast Chicken with Oranges and Winter herbs detailed on Spittoon. They are drying out now but the stem is dangling down the wall (next to where the string of garlic whould be if I had one) - they still taste so much better than the crunchy old things I have in a jar.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the bay leaves! I will certainly miss being able to have fresh herbs right in my garden like I do here...it's been a real treat.
