Much has been written concerning the ‘too-cool-for-school’ Aquapura hotel in the Douro Valley. Our, sadly brief stay, was part of the Douro trip after the European
Wine Bloggers Conference. I loved it – from the ‘going down’ to your room from the reception, to the multi-control unit that was supposed to switch off the room lights but most only managed to get the window blinds to move. No photos of the excellent interior (apart from the breakfast table below) but two early morning views of the Douro itself plus a couple more of the
hotel’s gardens and a
bar terrace on Flickr. Early morning light, don’t you just love it!

Too cool for school indeed!
I absolutely adored Acquapura, too cool for school – who cares! The memory of those light- as-air croissants and perfect, freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast still makes me swoon! Only wish we hadn’t arrived so late in the evening. Need to get back there.
I have to admit to going back for seconds on those delectable pastries! Loved the design of the place myself and actually managed the room controls with no problems. As you say shame we didn’t have longer there to try out the bar, have a full meal and nose about a bit more.
early morning light – I might love it if I ever saw it
Love the shot of the table.
Thank you for the nice comments on aquapura!
